The boys and girls did Brooklands Primary School proud today, as they showed two Eco Schools Assessors around our school, discussing with them our different Eco projects from over the last three year, as well as our hopes for the future.
The Pupil Councillors showed the assessors around the school grounds, looking at our raised beds, bug hotel 'Buggingham Palace', our compost bin, our outdoor play area and all of the bicycles from so many cyclists... to name but a few things that are going on!
They visited classrooms and listened to children of all ages talk about why we want to look after our planet and local areas, why we recycle and compost our waste and why we want to save energy and water by turning off lights, computers and taps when they not being used.
The pupils talked the assessors through folders of evidence which the children have gathered each year, and in classes pupils of all ages sang their Eco Code Chant and showed the assessors their sheer enthusiasm for the work we are doing!
The Assessors were so impressed by our children and described our school as being exemplary! It is lovely to show that to others and yet again, put Brooklands and our pupils in the limelight they deserve. We are all very proud of the children and very proud to officially call ourselves an Eco School!
Thank you to the ongoing support of all staff and the Board of Governors, especially Mr Kirkwood and Mrs McCartney who have given up their time and commitment to work with the pupil council on each of our projects over the last three years... but my biggest thanks and congratulations go to everyone of the boys and girls in our school for their hardwork and enthusiam, as well as to their families for their support with the children's Eco projects. Here's to many more next year!
