A memorable day for Brooklands!

Wow! What a fantastic special event we've just had at Brooklands Primary School! We celebrated HM The Queen's official 90th birthday on Thursday with a guest visit from the First Minister of Northern Ireland, Mrs Arlene Foster. We held a special birthday assembly for the First Minister and local MLA guests Joanne Bunting, Robin Newton and Chris Lyttle. We even sang 'Happy Birthday' and cut a specially designed cake in the Queen's honour. Special thanks to Alan Dowie at Central Bakery, Bangor, for the magnificent cake! M-Jay, Lara, Holly and Zach from P3 and P4 read out their royal stories and poems and Mr Henry's brother Simon (youth worker in St John's, Moira) gave us a Royal Quiz and a special message about the Queen's faith. After Assembly our special guest visited P1 and P2 classrooms to say hello and see how they were celebrating the Queen's birthday too! Huge thanks to Arlene Foster and her staff for a friendly, informal and really relaxed visit to our school. Also thanks to the whole team at Brooklands for pulling out all the stops in making sure we enjoyed another memorable Royal occasion! **Have a look at Arlene Foster's Facebook page(s) for her comments and keep an eye out for more pics in the Newtownards Chronicle!**
