WALT to use abbreviations correctly. An abbreviation is a shortened form of a word or phrase.
Here are some examples:
January = Jan.
August = Aug
Doctor = Dr.
As soon as possible = ASAP.
Do it yourself= D.I.Y.
Telephone = Tel
Avenue= Ave
Street= St.
North= N.
Southwest= S.W.
