What would you make for the king?

It's Terrific Thursday today P3 and WORLD BOOK DAY. We really hope you have been enjoying the stories you have heard so far this week. Today's book is by Julia Donaldson. Like the Go-Away Bird, it is one of Julia's more recent books. It is called 'The Cook and the King.

The King is really hungry. He really needs a cook. But cook after cook just isn't good enough.

Like many of the books written by Julia Donaldson, there are lots of rhyming words in the story. Can you listen carefully for the rhyming words? Can you think of your own rhyming words that rhyme with the words in the book?

Next you are going to design a menu for the King? Imagine you were applying to be the King's cook. What would you cook for the king? Think of your favourite foods. What would you make for starter? What would you make for the main course and what would you make for pudding? Remember whatever you make would need to impress the King. He is royalty after all!
