Please look at our page to see what we have been learning. We have lots of fun while we learn and grow.

We have two amazing helpers in our class called, Miss Peacock and Mrs Todd.  They help us have fun each and every day!

Thank you,

Ruth Massey.

We have amazing fun each day in school. We play with amazing toys and games both inside and outside our classroom. Have a look at our photographs to see what we have been up to!

Mrs Massey tries her best to add lots of photographs to our page each day so that you and your family can be involved in our learning journey!

Challenge:- Peg the correct egg to each bunny.

We have had a go today at sorting animals onto a Carroll Diagram. We looked at pictures of different animals, and we had to decide if they were adult or baby animals and if they had two or four legs. We then had to place them in the correct section of the Carroll Diagram.

Challenge:- Read the numbers and add the correct number of cotton wool balls to the ten frames.

Challenge:- Count the pips on the dominoes and put them on the correct leaf.

Today we used Compare Bears to make a graph.  We then answered some questions that Mrs Massey asked - we are all very good at Number work!

Challenge: – Use the cubes to make the rainbow.

Another STEM activity today for St Patrick's Day. We have been predicting how many gold coins we can stack on top of each other before our tower falls over.

A St Patrick's Day scavenger hunt was done this morning in the sunshine.

Challenge:- Fill the ten frame to match the raindrops.

Challenge:- Put the pom-pom on the dot. Flick it into its home.

We continue to work hard to develop our Fine Motor Skills in lots of different ways. We use scissors, bingo dabblers, single hole punches and stickers to name a few.

What can you find hidden in the sensory boxes? We have been trying to discover the leprechaun's treasure.

Challenge: – Build the patterns of rainbow stairs using the cubes.

We are working hard at building our strength. This game makes us cross the midline of our bodies whilst trying to get the beam to balance.  Activities like this help to improve both our fine and gross motor skills.

Challenge: – Find the number. Look at the cards and find the Uno cards that represent the same number. Put them together.

Hard work is being done – labelling the Oxford Reading Tree characters.

Today we had a go at a new activity. We worked hard with Miss Peacock and Mrs Todd to complete dot-to-dot activities. We each chose a picture of a vehicle and had to join the numbers in the correct order from 1 to 20.  We had to think hard to count correctly and to recognise the numbers themselves.

We have been playing a game of Uno Subitising. We had to turn over an Uno card, say the number on the card and then find it on the game board in dots. We then put a coloured counter on the square that it matched. If you turned over a card and there were no boxes left with that number on the board, we had to miss a turn. The winner was the person with the most coloured counters on the board.

Challenge:- Make 10. We are always investigating in Room 15. Today we are stacking numbers to make 10.

Mrs Massey has made a car wash using an old cardboard box and some bubble wrap. She is able to justify all her spending as she needs the packing materials for school!

Challenge: – Look at the numerals on the double-decker buses. Add the correct number of chains. Count carefully.

Today we have been taking part in a STEM activity. We have built a ramp by using a blue tray and a plank of wood. We then all picked a car from our class car box. We ran our car down the ramp and Mrs Massey noted how far along the number line the car travelled. We had to tell her the number that our car stopped at. We repeated this activity 4 times to see which was our best score. Some of us even got our car to race along as far as number 11. We then investigated how we could make our cars go further by changing the angle of the ramp. We also tried using different cars to see what happened then.

Challenge:- Look at the number at the top of each card. Count each of the blocks on each card and peg the ones that show the same value.

Gosh, I am sorry I forgot to take a photo of our Tuff Tray today! We did have good fun with it though!

We work very hard to develop our fine motor skills in our classroom.  We are helping the vehicles get to the petrol pumps with this activity.

Challenge:- Guess who? Match the character to its shadow.

What good friends!  Taking turns to push our friends in the All Terrain Buggy.

We are puzzle and code crackers.  We used our skills today to solve the "Mystery of the CVC Words."

Challenge:- Spin the wheel, say the word and put a counter over that word on the page.

We have continued developing our wonderful reading skills.  Our books this week have both been Oxford Reading Tree books, "At the Seaside" and "Floppy's Bath". We then had a challenge of matching the correct sentences to the correct picture. Mrs Massey is so proud of us and what we are able to do!

Challenge:- Order the vehicles from smallest to biggest.

We are working hard to use the correct maths vocabulary when describing the size of vehicles.

We have used junk materials to make vehicles, aren't they amazing? The boxes from Mrs Massey's advent calendar have come in useful again this year!

Challenge:- Put the pieces of each jigsaw together and see what vehicles you can make.

Today was "Pancake Tuesday" and we decorated a pancake so that it had a funny face.

As it was not raining today , we took the painting easel outside to get inspiration to paint amazing pictures of vehicles.

Working as a team to travel around the playground on the fire engine.

An outdoor scavenger hunt in the sunshine.

We were looking for vehicles that Mrs Massey had hidden in our outdoor play area. We were all very good detectives as we found all 16 pictures.

Our new topic is "Transport". We have tried hard today to sort vehicles into the correct sets of where you would find each.   Mrs Massey was very impressed with our knowledge.

Challenge:- Sort the vehicles into the correct sets.

We were detectives today and had to solve the case of " The snowman's missing hat".  We used our listening skills and listened carefully to the clues that Mrs Massey gave us to see if we could work out who the thief was.  We all worked out that Blue Bird stole the hat to make a nest for her babies.

Playing a game to see  "Does the sentence make sense?"

We had to pick a card from the "who" pile and read the statement below the picture, then pick a card from the "what" pile again, reading the statement below the picture and finally picking a card from the "where" pile. We had a good laugh at the funny sentences we made.

We have been learning about Polar Regions - we have made homes for polar bears at the North Pole. We have used cocktail sticks and packing peanuts. This is another STEM activity.

Challenge: - Spin the spinner and say the number the spinner stops on. Then use a counter and place that over the same number on the page.

Bouncing into a new day in Brooklands.

We have been reading Oxford Reading Tree books and completing associated activities. Today we had to label a go-kart - we had been reading Oxford Reading "The go- kart" . Mrs Masssey is delighted with how clever we are!

We have been learning about the animals of the Polar Regions - penguins from the South Pole and polar bears from the North Pole. We have played a game called "Roll a Penguins" and made a paper cup penguin. The game is Mrs Massey's version of a Beetle Drive ( she is showing her age with that game!)

Challenge - Put the correct number of links on each snowman.

Using tweezers to pick up pom-poms to make a winter hat. This activity helps us to develop our fine motor skills, something that is needed for many life skills.

We were following patterns today to feed the Hungry Caterpillar.

Challenge :- Make a clock.

Mrs Massey has given us 12 bottle tops and 2 pipe cleaners and has asked us to make a clock face. We found it rather difficult but  Theo came up with a plan!! We used our class play clock and matched the numbers! Isn’t he clever?

Today’s STEM activity was making patterns . We had to move coloured counters to make patterns- it sounds easy but we had to use our logic skills to move some coloured counters out of the way so that we could do what was asked of us!

More fun today working to develop our fine motor skills.✏️
