ABL - Birds

We have been learning about Birds during ABL.  We have enjoyed building bird houses, naming birds referring to photographs, designing paper bird crafts and completing a bird beak experiment.

Castle Espie

Our trip to Castle Espie was so much fun!  Our tour guide Jenny taught us many interesting facts about Brent Geese.  We went to a bird hide, a hut where swallows nest in Summer, the kiln room to learn about migration, the duck pond to feed the ducks and finally the forest play park.

Odd Socks Day

We wore odd socks to school for Anti-bullying Week!

Rugby with Stan

We went to The Hub on Friday morning and had a great time learning about rugby from Stan. The sky might’ve been grey and weather a bit cold but it didn’t dampen our spirits! We enjoyed learning how to throw and catch a rugby ball and how to score a try, as well as play a few mini matches. It was so much fun!

ABL - The Arctic

We have been learning about The Arctic during ABL.  We have been using pastels to create a Northern Lights art piece, using straws and connectors to build a 3D model of a sleigh, inputting coding instructions to move BeeBots forwards, backwards, as well as turning left and right to Arctic animal pictures and last but not least, we enjoyed creating Small World scenes using sugar cubes to make igloos!

Christmas Jumper Day

Thank you so much to everyone who donated money for our Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind.

ABL - Space

We have been learning all about Space in ABL.  We have been designing rockets and making them fly, creating lunar landscape art, developing a space photo story, designing a space passport as well as programming the BeeBots to move through Space.  It has been out of this world!

Children’s Mental Health Week

We embraced self-awareness and explored what it means to us through a range of different activities.  This week also helped us to grow and understand resilience.  Referencing the Inside Out 2 movie characters helped us explore this years theme of ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’.  P4 had the colour purple.  It represented the feeling of fear.

The Dog’s Trust

We enjoyed our visit from The Dog’s Trust.  It taught us about the simple rules to follow to behave safely and kindly to dogs we share our lives with.  We even got certificates for participating and remembering all of the rules!

ABL - Chocolate

This could be one of our favourite ABL topics yet!  We got to design a new chocolate bar, thinking about the colours we could use on the packaging, as well as the style of font.  We even thought about matching the name to some of the ingredients / flavours we would like to use.  We also weighed a selection of chocolate bars and put them in order from the lightest to the heaviest.  It was really tough not getting to eat them when the weighing experiment was completed!

World Book Day

We loved taking part in World Book Day activities this year.  We met up with Miss Gibson’s and Miss Young’s classes to have a story swap.  It was so much fun reading together and discussing the stories. We also got to take part in a book cover competition by designing our own versions.  Our favourite thing about World Book Day was coming into school in our costumes! Do you like them?

Back to the 80’s!

We kicked off Brooklands P.S 40th celebrations in style today.  What do you think of our 80’s accessories? We think we look pretty cool!

ABL - Australia

We have been learning all about Australia during ABL.  We have been making chatterboxes that included many Australian animal facts, constructing patterned snakes by linking paper strips together, creating Aboriginal dot art pictures, completing Australian animal jigsaw puzzles and much more!
