The Cutebot, with BBC micro:bits, features line tracking, lights, and obstacle avoidance.
Meet our second robot. - The Mecanum
The Mecanum 4WD, with BBC micro:bits, features omnidirectional wheels and obstacle avoidan
Using BBC Microbit buttons A&B to control the Cutebot Robot
Max slots the micro:bit into the Cutebot and puts his coding to the test. Pressing A, the Cutebot moves forward; tapping B, it reverses. With each press, Max gains confidence in controlling his robot.
Using the BBC Microbit to follow the black line
The Cutebot uses its two underside infrared sensors to detect and follow a black line on a contrasting surface. By continuously reading the sensor data, the micro:bit adjusts the speed and direction of the wheels, ensuring the robot stays on track. If one sensor detects the line while the other does not, the Cutebot makes small steering corrections, allowing it to navigate curves smoothly and maintain a consistent path.

BBC Microbits -Using our bodies to complete the circuit to play a melody.
Pupils connected the electrical circuit by holding 2 pins on the BBC Microbit
Bert has been programmed with a BBC Microbit to use his sensors to track the line .
Our class will be coding robotics next term - we have 2 kinds, this is Bert, named by the class. The pupils uploaded Bert to use his underneath sensors to track the black line . Some of the pupils even designed Bert’s track to follow using the underneath sensors- well done all involved .
