Mathematics 4th March

Good morning P3s!!

It's Thursday 4th March and time for some numberwork !

Today we are thinking about taking away 10.

So a good strategy to use today would be  "counting back".

Boys and girls, you will need your 100 array today, but if you don't have a printer, don't worry, as you can still use it in the same way while it is on the screen.

So, to take away on 10 from a given number, we count back 10.

For example..... 23 take away 10

Boys and girls, we know that when we are taking away , we count back using our 100 array.  So 23 take away 10 is 13.

But, boys and girls, if you do a few examples in this way, you will notice a pattern.

13 is above 23 on the hundred array.  SO the quickest way to take away 10 is not to count  back but to move up 1 square on your array.

This is much easier to show you while I am explaining it boys and girls.  So please watch the video below very carefully before you attempt today's task.

Good luck P3s.
