Fun and farewells end another school year at Brooklands!

Another school year has ended...and boy, did Brooklands Primary end it in style!!

We were determined to finish with a party as we bade farewell to Mr McCartney, Mrs Gray and Mrs Millar...but we didn't reckon on having so many parties!

The month of June was dominated by the GAWA at the Euros in France-we sang, cheered, danced and supported our fantastic national football team all the way to the knock-out stages! Well done Northern Ireland!

We had our annual presentation of Sports and Music awards and presented COPELAND with the House Shield after a hard fought contest lasting 10 months!

Talent of a different nature was on show towards the end of term at our always-entertaining Brooklands' Got Talent show hosted by Mr Massey and put together by Mr Henry. Our guest judges were our 3 retirees as well as Mr Perry from Dundonald High School. An afternoon of jolly jokes, dazzling dancers and superb singing produced a whole class winning performance by P7 Massey. Other winners were P4 poet Ella and P7 guitarist & singer Benjamin. Well done to the winners and to one and all from P4 to P7 for taking part!

Finally, we said farewell to our retiring principal Mr McCartney with a number of special presentations by the PSA, staff and pupils. We thank Mr McCartney for his 13 years of dedicated service to the pupils, staff and parents of Brooklands Primary. We wish him and his family a healthy and happy retirement together. We also said goodbye to P3 teachers Mrs Gray and Mrs Millar, who retired at the end of June as well. We wish both ladies all the very best and thank them both for their hard work and service to Brooklands too.

We open a new chapter in the life of Brooklands Primary School on Tuesday 30th August at 8.50am. We will welcome our new principal, Mr Boucher, and look forward to getting to know him. Please note Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st August will be 'half' days ending at 12 noon with no school dinners. Normal school hours and dinners resume on Thursday 1st September.

Have a great summer and see you all in August!
