KS2 pupils visit Somme Museum as part of First World War commemorations

During the month of October, our P5, P6 and P7 classes will all be visiting the Somme Museum to learn more about the centenary of the First World War.

Our P6 classes were the first to go and spent an excellent morning with our guides.  They learned about what it would have been like to have signed up as a soldier and then headed off for training, arriving in France and experiencing the horrors of the trenches.  Each class had the opportunity to take a closer look at the various weapons which were used in the battles and even try on some of the uniforms!

This visit helped our pupils to reflect upon the sacrifices that were made to keep us all safe and brought our study of the First World War to life.
