We are learning about how we can sleep better at night. We have made dream catchers to help catch our worries, fears and bad dreams.
Here are some other ways to help us sleep better:
Sleep meditations/stories
Sleep sounds
Deep breathing
Counting up or down from 100
No screen time 1 hour before sleep
Staying active during the day
Weighted blanket
Pillow Mists
Breathing Wands
Deep breathing helps bring our heart rate down and can make us feel calm. We are learning lots of different breathing techniques. We made a breathing wand to help us practise our deep breathing! We can use them when we are feeling sad, worried or angry.
We were practising our mindfulness by bringing our attention to our listening. We listened to a piece of music and visualised what we imagined it would look like. We thought about colour, patterns, tempo and volume. We then painted how the music made us feel!
P5 completed a yoga session! We learnt about all the benefits of yoga too!
We know that yoga can:
P5 made sensory bottles!
We can do meditations to relax us.
P5 tried out a range of meditations. Before starting, we always close our eyes, relax our bodies, focus on clearing our thoughts/worries and we take some deep breaths. During the meditation, we focus all our attention on listening to Miss Wilson's voice.
Some of the meditations we tried were:
-Floating on a cloud
-Drifting down the river
-On the beach
Afterwards, we felt peaceful and calm - ready to take on anything!
We were using our senses to practise mindfulness! We went on a scavenger hunt through the school grounds to focus on what we could see, hear, feel and smell!
