Culture Week 2024
Culture Week is here again: a week of immersive learning involving, history, Religious Education, music, geography, food tasting, art, Physical Education & so much more.
This week is very important to us at Brooklands as it is a chance to celebrate 'being the same but different'. We learn about other cultures from around the world and encourage pupils to have open minds and treat other individuals with kindness and respect.
Friday 31st May - Cultural Celebration Day
Each year group will be learning about a different country from around the world. On Friday, pupils should come to school wearing the colours of that countries flag.
Countries listed below & pictures of each flag in attached images.
P1 & SCU1 - Japan
P2 - France
P3 - Mexico
P4 - Jamaica
P5 - India
P6 - South Africa
P7 - Spain
SCU2 - Scandinavia
We were delighted to welcome our friends from Towell House to school again this week when Mr. Henry’s P7 class was presented with a trophy and framed collage to recognise their fantastic contribution to the recent ‘See and Be Seen’ photography project.
The pupils visited residents in March as part of 'Age Awareness' day to help teach the senior citizens how to take photos and selfies using an I-pad. The collage is a joyful mix of smiles, laughs and memories; it will be displayed at the main entrance in school for everyone to see.
The visitors also sat down with Mrs Smart, Pupil councillors, a local joiner and gardeners from Dundonald Nurseries to draw up plans to spend the money won at the Grand Choice Awards in March. Preparation is now underway for a wonderful new outdoor space at the grass area at end of the main school building. Watch this space!
