Do you like chocolate, crisps and pizza ? So do we but unfortunately we can’t eat these all the time as they are not healthy choices.

Food – Create a healthy lunchbox
You will need create a healthy lunch resource.
P3 can you create a healthy lunch? What foods would you put in your lunch box – fruit, wraps, vegetable sticks, salad ?
Draw and label a healthy lunch. |

You will need the resource odd one out. As before choose the activity for your group red, green or blue.
Read the lists. Can you identify the odd one out in each group. Give reasons for your thinking. |
Make the numbers
You will need the resource Make the numbers and a set of digit cards 1-9. These can be made by writing the numbers on squares of paper.
How many number sentences can you make from the digits 1,3,4,7 ? Record your calculations. |
Food – How Apples Grow
Apples are a very healthy snack which grow in Northern Ireland. Find out more by logging on to the C2K Junior Newsdesk and searching for Ripe for the Picking.
If you have apples in the house and some paint you could print with the apples and create a colourful picture. Ask an adult to cut the apple in half for you . |

Procedural Writing – how to make a fruit salad
You will need the resources procedural writing example_rice kripie buns and how to make a fruit salad activity page
P3 can you remember what procedural writing is? Well done if you said writing instructions. Miss McWilliams and Mrs Connery love cooking and baking so we often follow a recipe. Recipes are a good example of procedural writing.
Look at the resource – Procedural Writing Rice Krispie Buns. This structure will help model for you how to write your instructions.
Now can you write instructions for making a fruit salad ? Use the resource Procedural Writing Fruit Salad
Mums and Dads, you may wish to make a fruit salad with your child before writing the instructions and include any of the fruits you used. Remember P3 if you make a fruit salad only the grown-ups are allowed to use a sharp knife !! |
