P6 Literacy 18th January

It's so important to do some reading each day!  Don't forget to login to BugClub www.activelearnprimary.co.uk where you can read this week's book plus revisit some of the books you've already read.

If you can't remember your username, please email your teacher.  Your password is Brooklands (with a capital B) and the school code is hwpa.

Today there are two comprehensions to choose from.

You need to decide if you are going to complete the higher level comprehension or the lower level comprehension.  Then watch the video and download the worksheets for your task.

For both groups, after reading through your comprehension text, you will be writing your own questions and then completing an extension task.

Higher Level comprehension - The Runt

The Runt comprehension Lesson 1

Read through today's comprehension text and find out about your reciprocal reading task. Text taken from Key Comprehension 3 Unit 11 (Ginn)

Extension task - The Runt

Have you ever owned a pet?  For today's extension task, we would like you to design a poster telling others how to look after a dog/cat/budgie/hamster, etc.  It could be your own pet or perhaps a type of animal that you have always wanted to own!

Or, could you create a poster about looking after an imaginary pet e.g. a pet dragon or unicorn?!  The choice is yours!   You could draw out your poster on a page or use your ICT skills instead.

Once you've finished, please send a photograph of your finished poster to your teacher.

Lower level comprehension - Mrs Goat and her seven little kids

Mrs Goat and her seven little kids comprehension Lesson 1

Read through today's comprehension text and find out about your reciprocal reading task. Text taken from Key Comprehension 2 Unit 11 (Ginn)

Extension task - Mrs Goat and her seven little kids

A young goat is called a "kid".  What do we call the following young animals?

If you've got time, why don't you use your ICT skills to create a collage of photographs featuring baby animals?  You could use an app such as PicCollage to help!  Then send your teacher a photograph of your finished collage please.
