Thank you to everyone who joined us for this week's Zoom - we had a super time solving riddles and playing Wipeout! Keep an eye on the website for details of our next Zoom meetings (one for each class) which will be held on Thursday 4th March (World Book Day).
We've made it to the half-term holidays!
Have a lovely, relaxing break, P6,
and we'll see you back here on
Monday 22nd February for more home learning.
Take care and stay safe!
Class Zooms!
It was wonderful to see so many of you when we held our class Zoom meetings this week! Thank you for joining in and we look forward to seeing you all for the next class Zooms after the half-term break.
iPad and iPhone users - if you are having difficulty logging in to BugClub on an iPad or iPhone, please try the following:
Let's play a game!
Prodigy is a Maths game that gives your child P6 Maths questions for the first while of play. Let them play and try to answer the questions independently. Prodigy will then take their answers and start giving them questions suited to their level, so it adjusts difficulty accordingly after about 30minutes - 1hr of play.
This is a fantastic tool as the teachers can see who is working at what level; we can also see what questions students are struggling on and offer some help.
This week we encourage children to play as much as possible once school work is completed. They will design their own witch or wizard and travel through the land battling others by answering Math questions.
Next week if your child has completed the initial placement test, they will be able to access quizzes set by us directly linked to their Home Learning Topics.
Signing up is SO simple as we have already created the accounts for every child in P6.
Just follow the simple steps below.
Welcome to our P6 Home Learning Page!
It’s the last week of term! Watch the videos below as the P6 teachers say farewell and then come back on Tuesday morning to hear from your new P7 teachers.
We’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to all your amazing mums, dads, grandparents and other family members who have looked after you so well over the last few months. The support of our wonderful Brooklands families is much appreciated and we have loved receiving so many updates and photographs from you.
All our P6 Home Learning resources will remain available online over the holidays so, if there are any activities which you missed or would like to revisit, you can still access them if you wish.
If you didn’t manage to collect your set of summer practice papers (for those of you who are entering AQE), they will be available for collection in the school foyer until Tuesday 30th June at 12pm. There are also a few spare sets available to collect on a first-come, first-served basis for anyone who didn’t order a pack of tests but now wishes to receive them. We recommend doing one test per week over the summer.
***Additional resources for P6 pupils***
To support you over the holidays and into P7, the Department of Education is funding access to additional software applications which provide online learning programmes in Literacy and Numeracy. Please click below to download a letter to all P6 parents and a list of individual usernames and passwords for the IXL Learning site. These free resources will be useful to all pupils whether or not you are planning to enter for the AQE tests.
The Transfer Tutor App is also available (with a 50% off discount for Brooklands pupils) at www.thetransfertutor.co.uk/parent-school
The next set of AQE papers will be available for collection in the school foyer from 10am on Monday 1st June.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Titanic Zoom chat last Thursday. It was lovely to see all of you again and your stories about the passengers and crew members were fantastic! We will organise another P6 Zoom chat at the beginning of June.
We have now introduced our very own "Brooklands PS P6 Home Learning" YouTube channel!

The next set of AQE papers will be available for collection from 10am on Monday 1st June. For more details, please see our weekly Literacy or Numeracy activities pages.
AQE update - Monday 11th May
Don't forget that online registration for this year's AQE tests is due to open on Thursday 14th May https://aqe.org.uk The application process will be open until Friday 25th September so there is no immediate rush to submit your application. However, places are allocated at each assessment centre on a first-come, first-served basis so if you want your child to sit the tests in a particular school, it would be a good idea to submit your application in the next few weeks.
AQE recommends that you complete the application form online but it will also be possible to submit a paper copy of the application form - please be aware that the processing time for a paper application will be much longer.
We have learned today that the AQE tests have been pushed back by a couple of weeks and the tests will now take place on Saturday 21st November, Saturday 28th November and Saturday 12th December. We'll know more once the application process opens officially on 14th May.
If there's anything we can do to help you with the application process, please ask! We can print a copy of the application form for you, for example, or provide evidence of entitlement to free school meals if you can't produce your original letter.
Easter Holidays
Well done to everyone for all the work, reading, online activities etc. that you have done at your home school! We know you are doing what you can and are keeping happy, healthy and safe as well. The Easter Holidays are now almost here, so we have setup a list of revision activities and games (no worksheets) to have fun doing on Education City during the holiday period. They will become live from Saturday 4th and can be done in any order.
Enjoy and remember to keep safe and take care. Happy Easter.
If your child was not in school on Thursday 19th or Friday 20th March and you have not yet received your child's home learning pack (P6s only), please collect your pack from the school foyer from 10.00am on Monday 23rd March. Please respect our social distancing measures and do not come into the main school building.
This P6 pack contains a letter with your child's individual usernames and passwords and the initial P6 practice papers (one paper per week).
For children in other year groups, please email jarmstrong775@c2kni.net with your child's name and class to receive the appropriate usernames and passwords.
My Transfer Test is offering free full access to P6 pupils to our online AQE and GL revision app for the next week, starting today.
This includes over 1400 online AQE and GL revision questions along with 10 full, unseen AQE-style practice tests - all interactive and self-marking.
