Class Zooms!

iPad and iPhone users - if you are having difficulty logging in to BugClub on an iPad or iPhone, please try the following:

  • Make sure that you are using the most up-to-date software version - it must be iOS 12.4 or later
  • If you are using Safari as your browser, on your home screen go to Settings - Safari and make sure that "Block All Cookies" and "Prevent Cross Site Tracking" are both turned off.
  • If you still can't log in, try downloading Google Chrome as a browser.

Let's play a game!

Prodigy is a Maths game that gives your child P6 Maths questions for the first while of play.  Let them play and try to answer the questions independently. Prodigy will then take their answers and start giving them questions suited to their level, so it adjusts difficulty accordingly after about 30minutes - 1hr of play.

This is a fantastic tool as the teachers can see who is working at what level; we can also see what questions students are struggling on and offer some help.

This week we encourage children to play as much as possible once school work is completed. They will design their own witch or wizard and travel through the land battling others by answering Math questions.

Next week if your child has completed the initial placement test, they will be able to access quizzes set by us directly linked to their Home Learning Topics.

Signing up is SO simple as we have already created the accounts for every child in P6.

Just follow the simple steps below.

Click the LINK ABOVE, then select PLAY THE GAME, followed by LOGIN. Look for your child's login details in the pictures

We’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to all your amazing mums, dads, grandparents and other family members who have looked after you so well over the last few months.  The support of our wonderful Brooklands families is much appreciated and we have loved receiving so many updates and photographs from you.

All our P6 Home Learning resources will remain available online over the holidays so, if there are any activities which you missed or would like to revisit, you can still access them if you wish.

If you didn’t manage to collect your set of summer practice papers (for those of you who are entering AQE), they will be available for collection in the school foyer until Tuesday 30th June at 12pm.  There are also a few spare sets available to collect on a first-come, first-served basis for anyone who didn’t order a pack of tests but now wishes to receive them.  We recommend doing one test per week over the summer.

***Additional resources for P6 pupils***

To support you over the holidays and into P7, the Department of Education is funding access to additional software applications which provide online learning programmes in Literacy and Numeracy.  Please click below to download a letter to all P6 parents and a list of individual usernames and passwords for the IXL Learning site.  These free resources will be useful to all pupils whether or not you are planning to enter for the AQE tests.

The Transfer Tutor App is also available (with a 50% off discount for Brooklands pupils) at www.thetransfertutor.co.uk/parent-school

AQE update - Monday 11th May

Don't forget that online registration for this year's AQE tests is due to open on Thursday 14th May https://aqe.org.uk  The application process will be open until Friday 25th September so there is no immediate rush to submit your application.  However, places are allocated at each assessment centre on a first-come, first-served basis so if you want your child to sit the tests in a particular school, it would be a good idea to submit your application in the next few weeks.

AQE recommends that you complete the application form online but it will also be possible to submit a paper copy of the application form - please be aware that the processing time for a paper application will be much longer.

We have learned today that the AQE tests have been pushed back by a couple of weeks and the tests will now take place on Saturday 21st November, Saturday 28th November and Saturday 12th December.  We'll know more once the application process opens officially on 14th May.

If there's anything we can do to help you with the application process, please ask!  We can print a copy of the application form for you, for example, or provide evidence of entitlement to free school meals if you can't produce your original letter.

"P6 Practice papers and AQE" letter to parents 3rd May 2020

"The Transfer Tutor" app - half-price offer for Brooklands Primary School parents. We highly recommend this app for AQE preparation.

Easter Holidays

Well done to everyone for all the work, reading, online activities etc. that you have done at your home school! We know you are doing what you can and are keeping happy, healthy and safe as well.  The Easter Holidays are now almost here, so we have setup a list of  revision activities and games (no worksheets) to have fun doing  on Education City during the holiday period. They will become live from Saturday 4th and can be done in any order.

Enjoy and remember to keep safe and take care. Happy Easter.
