Illustration ©️ Gediminas Pranckevicius

Phonics

It's Friday so it's dictation day!  Download the dictation page for your group and then ask an adult to read out the sentences on the answer page.  As they read out each sentence (at least two or three times please), fill in the missing words.  Good luck!

Don't forget to head over to the Bug Club website to do some reading please!  https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0

Main activity

Let's take another look at yesterday's illustration which was called "Pegged".

I am sure you came up with some creative, imaginative ideas for the plot of 'Pegged'. Today's task is to write a short story using this illustration and all the wonderful ideas you came up with as the basis for your story.

A few things to think about:

  • Remember to grab the reader's attention with your opening line.
  • What stage of the story does this illustration fit into?
  • Write in paragraphs and try to avoid using the word 'then'.
  • Does your story have a twist?
  • Remember to describe the characters, not only how they look, but also how they are feeling?
  • With your ending, try to make it so brilliant and interesting that it leaves the readers wanting to read more.
  • Keep reading through what you have written, checking it carefully for spelling and punctuation.
  • Give your story an exciting title- this helps to grab the reader's attention.

Your teacher would love to read your story so do email it to them or even bring it with you on Monday and you can read it to the class. Enjoy!
