Did you send in your video entry for our "Extreme Expression" competition yet?  If not, why don't you do it today?  All the details are on our Book Week webpage.  Good luck!

It's so important to do some reading each day!  Don't forget to log in to BugClub www.activelearnprimary.co.uk where you can read this week's book plus revisit some of the books you've already read.

If you can't remember your username, please email your teacher.  Your password is Brooklands (with a capital B) and the school code is hwpa.

Starter activity

Let's begin by playing a spelling game!  We are trying to make words which begin and end with the given letters.  Follow the instructions below, choose your chilli challenge level and do your best!  Don't forget, if you're not sure how to spell a word, please look it up in a dictionary.

Main activity

Have you been watching the BBC series "A Perfect Planet"?  Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, it features amazing animals and plants which have adapted to suit their habitats.  You may remember that we looked at clips about marine iguanas and gecko lizards two weeks ago.

For today's comprehension activity, we are going to watch a short clip about the Arctic Wolf and then answer a series of questions based on this clip before completing a research task.  Watch today's video where Mrs Bell explains what to do.

To begin this activity, watch the video below to learn more about the Arctic Wolf and his hunt for food.  You may find it useful to click on the CC button to bring up the subtitles for this clip.

A hungry wolf is trying its best to catch one arctic hare, amongst hundreds. Even if he does, it isn't much of a meal.

Then it's time to download your comprehension activity so choose your level and read through all of the questions.  You will need to watch the video clip again (probably at least two or three times) to find the answers to your questions - this is not a memory test and please don't guess the answers!

Once you've answered the questions, it is time for your research task.  Watch the clip below to learn about a different Arctic mammal – a baby polar bear.  Write down five key facts which you learn about this young cub.
