  • Final month of the school year is upon us!

    Fri 29 May 2015
June? Already? You’d better believe it Brooklands!

Just over 4 weeks of school to go, and a little less for our P7s! It’s been a busy, successful 3rd term so far. Our Junior Choir were deserving winners at the Bangor International Choral Festival at the end of April. Well done to all the P3 and P4 pupils who were singing sensations-and thanks to Miss Ashby and Mrs Connery for all their hard work in preparing the choir.

Our very own marathon man Mr Coetzee ran the London Marathon at the end of April and raised hundreds of pounds for his nominated charity ‘Children with Cancer UK’. Lots of pupils and staff tried their best to spot him running on BBC TV! Well done Mr Coetzee-running 26 miles more than Mr McCartney ever could!

The month of May had 2 notable highlights – our ever popular Garden Sale and a special Summer Showcase concert. The Garden Sale was, as always, professionally organised by Mrs Smart and her helpful team of P7s. Plants and flowers were sold, tea and lollies consumed and a few male teachers soaked on a bright, sunny afternoon. The talking point of the whole event was the sell-out ‘Laugh of Giraffes’ created by the P7s in memory of their classmate Caleb. Orders have been taken and a new production line will soon be underway to accommodate the huge demand for these fantastic creations!

A feast of entertainment was on offer at the ‘Summer Showcase concert’ which featured superb performances by choirs, dancers, singers and instrumentalists from P3 to P7. A lot of hard work and practise was put into this event – very well done to everyone who took part and to Mrs Bell, Miss Ashby and Mrs Connery for pulling it all together for a one-off performance in front of parents and friends!

With exams and tests completed, pupils can look forward to a variety of special events in the month of June. Sports Days are scheduled for Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th June, as well as House Sport competitions and a mini marathon for P4 to P7s. There are plenty of class trips to enjoy as well-P2s are heading to Mountstewart, P3s to Streamvale Farm and P5s to Tayto Castle in County Armagh.

Don’t forget to support Mr Massey’s WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK from Monday 1st to Friday 5th June – every pupil should have received a High-Vis vest to wear to take part in another Sustrans initiative.
