  • Mayor Givan Visits Brooklands

    Wed 03 Jun 2020 F. Smart

The Mayor of Lisburn and Castlereagh, Mayor Alan Givan, dropped in to our school on Tuesday, 2nd June, to say thank you to staff for remaining open during this time.

He was so interested to hear about our pupils, both those in school and those at home, and he passed on his best wishes to you all.

He was impressed to hear about all of the things the children of Brooklands have been up to during this time, from whole-school events and competitions, assemblies, sports' fortnight and more! He praised our NHS artists, and was very taken by the fact that we have made it onto the BBC News Feed and Belfast Live, as well as had direct contact with Cressida Cowell throughout this time, which was all of great interest to him.

He presented school with a box of shortbread as a thank you, which was so thoughtful and kind! We hope that we can meet Mayor Givan again soon, when  school is back, and maybe our Pupil Council can visit the Council Chambers once more, for another of our meetings, as we did last year.

A huge thank you from us all, to Mayor Givan for his kind visit and words of thanks and encouragement, which really means a lot.
