  • Sal's Shoes

Thu 29 Jun 2017 Mrs Graham
A big thank you to everyone who brought in old shoes today! Each class brought their shoes to the hall, ready for our team of helpers to sort into boxes. Thank you to Mrs Roberts and Mrs Whiteside from the P.S.A. who came in to help. My class worked hard, making sure the correct type of shoe made it to the correct box. Miss Holland and I are very proud of their efforts for this great charity! We received an amazing 358 pairs of shoes, all sorted into 11 boxes, ready to be sent around the world to find a new pair of feet. Not bad for a first year supporting this charity! We look forward to supporting Sal's Shoes again in the future.
  • Brooklands has definitely Got Talent!

Mon 26 Jun 2017 Mrs Bell

Today we were treated to one of the highlights of our school year - the annual Brooklands' Got Talent show!  Compered by the one and only Mr Classey Massey, we were entertained by sixteen fabulous acts.  We had it all, from gymnastics to comedy, dance to jazz, singers to puppets and even a few naughty babies thrown in for good measure!

Watching on were our guest judges Mr Perry, Robbie, Lynsey, Ms Gordon and Donna and they were spoilt for choice, eventually selecting the Bad Babies as their winner.  Our pupils also got a chance to vote and their favourite act was Dominic's Divers.  Finally, the staff award went to The Chronicles of Austin and the Milkman.

Huge congratulations to all who participated and also to everyone who took part in our auditions - you were all amazing!  Special thanks also to Mr Henry who worked so hard to put the whole show together and ensured that everything went smoothly!  Roll on next year!

  • Official Opening of Ballyoran Playpark

    Wed 14 Jun 2017 F Smart
Two years of hard work paid off this month as the children of the Pupil Council were invited to the Official Opening of Ballyoran Playpark. Thanks to Alan Poots of Lisburn City Council, our children have been involved in this project from conception to the end result. They picked the equipment they would like to see and attended a site visit to oversee the work as it was underway. We had the fabulous opportunity to work with Therese Gorman, a local artist, to create stunning artwork for display at the park. We picked the theme of giraffes, very special to our hearts, as well as the word TOGETHER, to represent all of the Brooklands children, past, present and future in this play park. Every child from P1 to P7 had the opportunity to get hands-on with creating the felt for the artwork, so this is something we are all very proud of. The Mayor of Lisburn officially opened the park and praised our pupils for their dedication to their school and the community, as well as their enthusiasm, stories and fabulous behaviour at the opening event. They are a credit to us all and superb ambassadors for all of the wonderful children within Brooklands Primary School.
