  • Farewell P7s!

    Wed 28 Jun 2023

Today was the final day at Brooklands for our wonderful Primary 7 pupils!

On Monday & Tuesday, the two classes hosted their parents and families at separate Leavers' events in school. The audiences were treated to singing, dancing, jokes, magic, art, poems, memories and even yoga!

We wish all the P7s every success as they head to 10 different post-primary schools in September - we know you'll do us proud by continuing to be the hardworking, fun-loving boys and girls that Mr Massey, Mr Henry and many other teachers have known and loved throughout your time at Brooklands.

Good luck and best wishes for the future!

  • Donate your pre-loved school uniform items with ROC Ballybeen on Thursday 29th June

    Tue 27 Jun 2023

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

Children often outgrow uniforms which are still in good condition.  As you know, uniforms are expensive and so it makes sense that these would be passed on to others who can use them.  This also helps the environment by cutting down on waste.

Local churches are once again working together with ROC Ballybeen to collect and distribute pre-loved, outgrown school uniforms which are still in good condition.  The project will cover all the schools located in Dundonald: Brooklands & Dundonald Primary Schools, along with their nurseries, Longstone, Tor Bank and Dundonald High School.

Donations will be gratefully accepted at the back door of our assembly hall on Thursday 29th June between 8.30am and 10.00am.  If this time doesn't suit, please take your donations to Christ Church on Saturday 1st July from 10.00am to 12 noon

If you wish to receive some items of uniform, these will be available for collection from Christ Church on Monday 3rd July from 3pm to 7pm and Thursday 3rd August from 3pm to 7pm.

For further information and updates, please search for the 'ROC Ballybeen' page on Facebook.

This is an excellent initiative and we thank you in advance for your support.

    Kind regards,

    J. Armstrong

  • Out and about in Key Stage 2!

    Sat 24 Jun 2023

Our Key Stage 2 classes have been out and about in recent weeks; learning, listening & enjoying the sunshine!

Our P7s finished their intergenerational project with the residents of Towell House Residential Home with a Fun Day that will never be forgotten! Inflatables, DJs, ice cream, outdoor games, a personal photographer and a marquee lunch...it was absolutely sensational! P7H and P7M brought parents & carers with them for a memorable end (until next year...) to the interactions between young and old! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

The P6s visited the Science Department at Dundonald High School for some STEM lessons involving Bunsen burners, bouyancy and brilliant experiments! ๐Ÿฅฝ๐Ÿงช

Our P5s headed to the home of Northern Ireland with a fantastic tour of the National Football Stadium in south Belfast. They received a guided tour of the changing rooms, dugouts and press room.  โšฝ๏ธ ๐Ÿ’š

  • P7M's wartime show is a huge hit!

    Thu 08 Jun 2023

    ๐ŸŽถ WHAT A SHOW! ๐ŸŽญ

Congratulations to the boys and girls of Mr Massey's P7 class for their superb performance of "Belfast Baps with a side of Blitz" this afternoon!

The play, written by Mr Massey himself, tells the story of the Belfast Blitz during World War Two and is a wonderful mix of classic wartime songs, sensitive remembrance and Northern Irish humour!

The parents and carers of the pupils were joined in the audience today by special visitors HM Lord Lieutenant for County Down, Mr Rowan Hamilton and his wife, Mrs Rowan Hamilton, as well as their new friends: some residents and staff from Towell House !

Superb acting, lovely singing and tremendous fun - and the staff choir wasn't half bad either!

Thank you to those who donated at the door to the Royal British Legion.

  • A cracking Culture Week!

    Fri 02 Jun 2023

    Wow!

Culture Week 2023 has been quite a week at Brooklands - the buzz around the whole school was electric! โšก๏ธ

Our pupils travelled across the globe (from the safety of our classrooms and school grounds) to explore Japan, France, Mexico, Jamaica, India, South Africa & Spain! ๐ŸŒ

They tried some words & phrases from a new language, drew & interpreted some notable landmarks & artworks, sampled some authetic international food, sang & danced to a variety of songs & tunes and dressed in the colours of the national flags of their chosen countries! ๐Ÿ˜€

AND ... the sun shone all week!!!! โ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

Thank you to all staff, pupils & visitors for making this week ANOTHER example of what Brooklands does best - community and togetherness! โค๏ธ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ
