Welcome to our News section!
On Wednesday this week, we plan to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in style!
Children, and staff, may come into school on this day, dressed in their finery, to enjoy a 'Jubilee Picnic Break' outdoors (weather permitting of course!).
As always, when we hold a non-uniform event, we encourage the children to wear things they already have, and in this case that could be a princess dress, wedding or party outfit they may have, or an outfit of their own choosing, but please don't buy anything especially.
If the children can bring a cushion or blanket with them on the day, they can sit on this outside, where music will be playing and fun will be had.
You may wish to send an extra, or special break with you child on this day as part of their celebrations.
No donations are being asked for this event.
Many thanks indeed for all of your support, as we look forward to making this day a special occasion for the children to enjoy, before we finish school for the long weekend.
School will finish for the children at their usual time on Wednesday 1st June, and will resume on Monday 6th June.
Many thanks,
The Brooklands Team
The footballers were absolutely amazing yesterday! They put in their best performance of the season ... full of heart, passion, desire and no little football skill! Well done everyone! Hope LIVERPOOL will play as well as you did in the Champs League Final!!!

Staff and pupils had the best time learning and celebrating during Culture Week. Children got a broad range of experiences including: dancing, food tasting, music, art, sport, history and much much more. Until next year...
Well done to our latest Person Of The Match - Sponsored by Murray Sports!!! Very well deserved! Some excellent tackles! He is a rock at the heart of our defence! Although I wonder should I expell him for supporting Linfield?!!! PS Can you all believe I taught his Mum!?! She was one of the loveliest and kindest pupils I have ever taught!
The P7 classes have all visited the Belfast Blitz Museum this week. The pupils were given a really interesting 'talk' from Ruth and were able to answer and ask lots of questions! A great day out was had! It was very interesting but also quite sad - over 1000 people from Belfast died. Thanks to Alan and David for coming with us from Dundonald PSNI.
Brooklands are proud to have dedicated a week to celebrating many cultures from around the world. Each year group will be spending a week learning about a different country. Pupils will learn about food, religion, sport, music, dance, history, geography, art and the list really does go on.
On Friday 20th May, children should come into school wearing the colours of their chosen country's flag. This will be 'Celebration of Culture' day and should be filled with fun activities and music. See countries for each year group below:
P1 - Japan
P2 - France
P3 - Mexico
P4 - Jamaica
P5 - India
P6 - South Africa
P7 - Spain
As part of the IFA Mental Health Awareness Week we had a visit from James and Claire from the IFA as part of our PE lessons with our IFA PE coach, Heather.
