  • Christmas competitions get underway!

    Thu 29 Nov 2018

Please help us to raise much-needed funds for our school by supporting our Christmas competitions!

To win a huge jar of Miniature Heroes, simply guess how many sweets are in the jar! Each guess costs just 50p. We will also be holding a raffle to win a gorgeous Build-A-Bear puppy who is looking for a new forever home this Christmas. Each entry costs £1. The winners of both prizes will be announced on Friday 14th December. P7 pupils will visit each classroom each day to allow the children to enter each competition.

Thank you for your support! Good luck!

  • P6 classes enjoy STEM workshops!

    Mon 26 Nov 2018

Today our P6 classes welcomed Connor from Sentinus, a local company which aims to inspire the next generation to develop their skills in the STEM subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

Connor delivered two excellent workshops based on renewable energy and our P6s had the opportunity to build their own wind turbines and also a structure to support a solar panel.  We had a great time working in teams to complete each challenge and our P6s were rightly proud of their finished structures.

Thank you to Connor and all the team at Sentinus for delivering such an inspiring event!

  • Happy Thanksgiving!

    Thu 22 Nov 2018

We never shy away from a big occasion in Brooklands Primary, and our first ever celebration of American Thanksgiving in school today nearly 'trumped' all our previous efforts!

There was much speculation about the V.I.P. visitor that had been promised to Mr Henry from the White House in Washington D.C. -- who could it be? We weren't disappointed as we welcomed the President himself - our good friend and former principal Mr McCartney with facemask and full suit!

Pupils and staff enjoyed a variety of fun and games - the infamous and now dreaded 'Spinney Wheel' returned - in 2 special assemblies which helped every pupil from P1 to P7 learn a little more about this special American holiday!

Well done to the super readers from P4H and thanks to everyone who made the effort to wear red, white and blue or added stars or stripes to their school uniform.

    Next stop.... Christmas!

  • P6s return from their Greenhill YMCA residential

    Fri 16 Nov 2018

This week our P6 classes headed off to Greenhill YMCA in Newcastle for their first Brooklands residential.  Fifty-five children and five staff had an excellent four days learning many new skills including archery and laser tag.  They also mastered the climbing wall and zipline and were brave enough to plunge into the icy water when bouldering!  Head now to the Gallery to see the PowerPoint of all the photographs.

Massive thanks must go to all of the amazing staff from Greenhill!  From the beautiful dinners served by the wonderful catering team to the fantastic instructors who kept us all safe, we thank you all for looking after everyone so well.  Our thanks also go to our own staff who gave up time with their own families to give our pupils an experience which they will never forget.

  • Remembering the Fallen

    Fri 09 Nov 2018

Today in Brooklands, we commemorated the fallen soldiers of World Wars One and Two and subsequent conflicts with a special Remembrance Assembly. Mr Armstrong led our special gathering and members of his P7 class read poems and prayers, including the well-known 'In Flanders Fields'. Laurie and Ellie from P7S/L laid poppy wreaths as everyone observed a minute's silence while listening to the familiar trumpet call of 'The Last Post'.

Thanks is expressed to pupils and parents for their overwhelming support in buying poppies and commemorative items in school this week. All proceeds go to the Royal British Legion, who in turn provide support and relief for injured soldiers and army veterans.
