  • Harvest services at Brooklands

    Thu 17 Oct 2019

On Thursday 17th October we held our annual Harvest celebrations.  Rev Richard McIlhatton  and youth worker Michael were our guest speakers and they reminded us about the importance of saying "Thank you" to God, to our friends and families and to those who look after us.

Our Junior and Senior choirs both delivered their first performances of this academic year and it was fantastic to see such enthusiasm from all of our choir members.  Congratulations to them all and well done to their choir leaders Mrs Connery and Miss Ashby (Junior choir) and Mrs Bell (Senior choir).

Thank you to all the families who donated items for the food bank!  The organisers of the local food bank are very appreciative of your generosity and these items will soon be distributed to local families in need.

  • October already!

    Mon 14 Oct 2019

The darker nights, 'Strictly' on the telly, far-too-early Christmas items in the shops...yes, it can only mean one thing - autumn has arrived! Everyone has long since settled back into a new school year after their summer break. Pupils and staff are working hard in their classrooms to maintain their high standards of teaching and learning, following a hugely successful follow-up inspection by ETI in October 2018.

Our primary school now provides an 'extended' school day for all ages:

    • Our Breakfast Club is now situated in the Dining Hall, open from 8am, still at a rock bottom price of only 50p per day! (Enter via the doors to the outdoor play area.)
    • P1s as well as P2s now have an 'after-school' club from 2pm-3pm.
    • P4s to P7s have an extensive range of after-school activities, including Miniversity, Amateur Dramatics and drumming lessons using external professionals, as well as sports and recreational groups led by teachers.

We supported 'World Mental Health Day' in early October with a 'Mellow Yellow' day of relaxing activities in every classroom as well as music and dance together in the assembly hall. Thanks to Mrs Smart for a brilliant idea and to all staff and pupils for their positive messages and contributions to our display in the foyer of the school.

Parent Interviews are being held on Monday 21st October to Thursday 24th October. Children finish for half term at 1pm on Thursday 24th October as Friday 25th October is a School Development Day for staff only. All staff and pupils return to school on Monday 4th November at 8.50am.

Prospective parents and pupils are warmly invited to view our super school on our Open Afternoon and Evening on MONDAY 2nd DECEMBER - 1.45pm and 6.30pm. Put in your diaries now!
