  • Here comes Book Week 2023!

    Fri 24 Feb 2023

    NEXT WEEK!

It's our annual celebration of the wonderful world of books, stories & reading - BOOK WEEK!

Our theme this year is 'Books Beyond The Building' & our aim is to encourage every pupil to read outside of a normal school day, in their spare time; at home, with friends, indoors, outdoors, wherever they have space and peace to do it!

Some of our classes and pupils will be heading out of school to read to senior citizens, parents, toddlers and the general public in our local community and beyond!

We're thrilled to welcome back author, illustrator & QUB Children's Writing Fellow Paul Howard to talk, draw & imagine with our P1s, P2s and P3s!

Don't miss our unique 'Dress-Up' Day on Worl Book Day - Thursday 2nd March! (no cost) Which book character will you dress up as? Prizes galore for the best homemade costumes!

On Friday, P7 pupils will be heading to Waterstones bookshop in Belfast to read with some local children's authors in an event completely exclusive to our school!

Don't miss a thing - make sure every pupil is a part of our biggest Book Week yet by being in school every day next week!

  • Let's Connect for Children's Mental Health Week 2023

Wed 01 Feb 2023 Miss Lyon

    Hello all,

We are SO excited for Mental Health Week 2023!

    (Monday 6th February - Friday 10th February.)

We have lots planned to educate pupils & staff on how to look after their mental health. Alongside teaching about Mental Health, we have many fun activites planned to spread positivity and get everyone smiling.

Most activities will be completed in school with no prep needed at home but there are a few activities we need your support with.

    1. The Connect Calendar

The theme for this year's Mental Health Week is 'Let's Connect'.

There will be NO HOMEWORK during this week. Instead, there will be a daily challenge to connect with someone in some way. Teaching pupils that talking about how we are feeling is a great way to look after our mental health. Please see picture in the slideshow below for all details.

    2. The Big Sing

On Wednesday, we will be getting together as a school for 'The Big sing'. We will be singing 3 positive songs. We would LOVE you to practise these at home.

    ROAR by Katy Perry

Three Little Birds by Bob Marley & the Wailers

    Keep on Movin' by FIVE

    4. Dress to Express Friday

Pupils should wear an outfit that expresses their presonality. Bright, quirky outfits and hairstyles are welcome. Come as yourself and wear a smile.

A huge thank you to all parents and carers for your continued support and enthusiasm.
