Welcome to our News section!
The Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service is asking for your support!
In Northern Ireland, upwards of 850 units of blood are used by patients each week, yet 94% of the eligible population still do not give blood. Donated blood is usually transfused within three to four days of donation and we need to attract many new donors to ensure a safe supply of blood to our hospitals.
Blood is used in numerous ways, such as going to a child with leukaemia, a mother during childbirth, a person undergoing routine surgery, a person with cancer, or someone involved in an accident.
Would you be able to attend the local donation session in Stormont Hotel on either Monday 10th or Tuesday 11th October? Appointments can be made by calling 08085 534 653. Thank you for your support!
Mellow Yellow Day
Our annual Mellow Yellow Day will take place on Thursday 6th October.
This will be a day of relaxation and mindfulness for staff and children.
Children should come to school wearing something yellow. They may be in head-to-toe yellow clothing or simply wear yellow socks or a yellow hair bobble.
Please do not feel the need to purchase new items of clothing.
The football team kicked off their season last week and got on pretty well! From little acorns will grow mighty oaks! Don't they look cracker in their new kits?! A big thank-you to Ballybeen Improvement Group for sponsoring the new kits! A proper official photo will hopefully take place soon with our very kind member sponsors.
'Thank you Ma'am...for everything.'
Today we paid tribute to Her Majesty The Queen with a very special Service of Thanksgiving for our pupils, staff and invited guests.
We say a huge well done to Jagoda, Aleah, Jack & Olly for their excellent prayers & readings. A big thank you to Matthew Wilson for his musical talent on the bagpipes (and his popular tour of the classes!) and to Rev Richard McIlhatton for closing our service.
Thanks to our local political representatives for supporting this event - Gavin Robinson MP; MLAs Naomi Long, David Brooks & Peter McReynolds and Lisburn & Castlereagh councillors Sharon Skillen, Sharon Lowry, John Laverty and Hazel Legge. It was lovely to welcome some of our governors as well as retired staff members too.
We are thankful for the life, work and witness of arguably our greatest ever monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, and hope you and your family are able to watch the State Funeral on Monday.
We'll see all of our boys and girls back in school on Tuesday morning.
We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of The Queen this afternoon.
Her Majesty was the longest serving monarch in the history of the United Kingdom, dedicated to serving our country and undertaking her duties with dignity and selflessness.
We think especially of the Royal Family this evening, as they mourn the loss of their mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
The Union flag will be flying at half mast in the school grounds tomorrow morning.
'Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.'
What do you think of the latest addition to our school grounds..? Our amazing OUTDOOR ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND!
This was only possible thanks to YOU - our amazing Brooklands family of parents, carers & friends...yes, your donations to last year's Cash for Kids fundraising campaign paid for it all!!
All of our P4 to P7 classes will be timetabled to enjoy it twice a week with their teacher; please remember it is NOT for general use & must be respected as such. It can be ONLY be used when supervised by a member of our staff team during school hours.
THANK YOU! 👍🏻
