Welcome to our News section!
Did you have a big clear-out over Easter? Are you planning or in the middle of one at the moment? STOP EVERYTHING! WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Please send in your old clothes, fabrics, handbags, pairs of shoes during the month of May to raise VITAL funds for our school!
We will be paid 40p per kilo and if we are the school to bring in the most, we win £1500! Orangefield Primary won last year, so it's a very real possibility!
All old clothes and shoes etc go to people in need or are repurposed/ recycled if they can't be used by others!
Our collection day is FRIDAY 31ST MAY - but don't leave it until the last minute - send it in anytime before that!
We stand a real chance of raising a lot of money for school funds - so... on your marks...get set...CLEAR OUT!
We welcomed our good friend, Lyndsey Marks, from Scripture Union NI, to school today to share an Easter message in special assemblies for P1-P3 and P4-7.
We heard from our brilliant P4 choir - who secured 2nd place in last week's Bangor Choral Festival - and the always outstanding Senior Choir. Many thanks to Mrs Bell, Mrs Connery and Miss Ashby for their all musical hard work!
Well done to Jack and Maizie from P4H who read the prayers in the P4-P7 Easter assembly too.
School ends at 12noon this Friday (12th) - no dinners.
*NON UNIFORM DAY - £1 TO SCHOOL FUNDS PLEASE!*
School resumes on Monday 29th April at 8.50am.
**Please note additional closures on Thursday 2nd May (election) and Monday 6th May (Bank Holiday)**
Happy Easter!

Brooklands said goodbye to the Big Pedal in typically outrageous fashion today with a whole school 'Bye Bye Big Pedal Party'! 2 weeks of cycling, scooting and walking to school ended with Musical Statues, Musical Chairs and a Treasure Hunt involving some very enthusiastic teachers! Our final event was our whole school 'Big Breakfast' today -our wonderful dinner ladies served 500+ hot dogs in 45 minutes - surely some kind of record! Huge thanks to Diane and her team in the school kitchen - truly our unsung heroes!
The Big Pedal has registered over 3.5 million journeys over 10 school days across the UK. The environmental and health benefits of walking, cycling or scooting to school are wide-ranging - have a look online at www.bigpedal.org.uk for more details!
Brooklands finished in 9th place in Northern Ireland on the Big Pedal leaderboard, and in 335th position in the whole of the UK...with a total of 4000 journeys to school over 10 days!
The Big Pedal may be over - but look out for more special events as we continue to try to reduce congestion around the school gates - plenty more to come in Term 3!
Well done to all pupils, parents and staff who formed our first ever 'Walking Bus' to school today, starting at Longstone School and snaking our way past St Mary's Church and the Enler Centre to Dungoyne and into school 'en masse'! Our friends Alan and Shelley from the PSNI joined us again and commented on how much lighter they felt the traffic was in and around school - target achieved!
The Big Pedal continues this week, ending on Friday with a Big Breakfast during the morning in school for all those paid £1 last Friday on 'Bling Your Bike' day.
Keep cycling, scooting and walking to school - not just this week, but from now on if you can- it's a healthy, safe way to travel to school each day!
