  • Brooklands gets blinged for the Big Pedal!

    Sat 30 Mar 2019

The Big Pedal continued in dazzling style on Friday in Brooklands with a very special 'Bling Your Bike or Scooter to School Day'! Hundreds of pupils added a variety of 'bling' to their 2 wheeled transport - as well as themselves - our playground was a sea of sparkle, colour and style! Mrs Smart, Mr Massey and Mr Henry headed out first thing for a cycle around the streets surrounding the school and were joined by our friends Alan and Shelley from the PSNI. We celebrated together in a special fun Assembly with prizes, singing and dancing in true crazy Brooklands style! The Newtownards Chronicle arrived later in the day to photograph the entire school with their bikes and scooters - look out for photos in the newspaper soon!

Thank you to 440 pupils who paid £1.00 on the day to book their place at next Friday's (5th April) hot dog breakfast which will bring this year's Big Pedal to a conclusion.

It was fantastic to see so many boys and girls blinging their way to school - join us on Monday (1st April) for the Big Walk of Fools (check the date again!) when we will walk to school together starting at Longstone School at 8.30am...don't be late!

  • 3rd Place Winners - Environmental Youth Speak 2019!

    Wed 27 Mar 2019 F. Smart
Lennon and Kacper proudly represented Brooklands in this year's Environmental Youth Speak Competition on the 27th March. With outstanding entries from twelve different primary schools throughout Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, we were delighted when our very own pirate duo - 'Captain Kasp Spyro' and 'Lennon Long John Silver Beard' were awarded 3rd place! They had the audience and judges in laughter as they took us on a journey through The 5 Arggghhhs, oh sorry The 5 Rs - Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot! We have all learnt a lot by studying these important environmental issues and well done to all P6 and P7 children who entered our in-school competition, you were all fabulous. A very special congratulations to our two m' hearties who saw Brooklands win 3rd place!
